Mindfulness Doc

Michele McCormick, Ph.D. is a practicing psychologist and certified mindfulness teacher. With UCLA's Dan Siegel, M.D., and Chris Germer, Ph.D. at Harvard she has studied interpersonal neuropsychology and the complex nature of consciousness . For over a decade, she has enjoyed a dedicated mindfulness practice through study, travel and sitting with Trudy Goodman, Jack Kornfield, and other dedicated teachers. Certified through Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center in 2019 over the course of a two-year training with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, Michele is now an "official" certified mindfulness instructor.

Sustained silence becomes her best teacher each August during month-long retreats, on hermitages in the wilderness of northern New Mexico, and again in Colorado at Thich Nhat Hahn's mindfulness retreats. In the Spring of 2013, Doc M was encouraged by Jack Kornfield to start a sitting group. Talking together on a high desert mesa while on retreat in Joshua Tree, California, Jack said, "Just do it. Start now. See where it goes".

Neuroscience studies have shown that through mindfulness practice, we actually rewire our brains

for a more sustained sense of personal well-being.
